Japanese pop sensation LiSA, known for Fate/Zero‘s “Oath Sign,” among other hit tracks, came to Anime Expo 2012 as a Guest of Honor and performed a live concert for con-goers. Writer Jason Young covered what you need to know about the extraordinary artist in a guest post prior to the event, which you can check out here.
LiSA was kind enough to join us for a little one-on-one interview during the convention, in which she describes how she got into singing, some of her favorite bands, and more.
Inside AX: When did you know you wanted to become a singer?
LiSA: When I was very young, I was into musicals, and when I was in elementary school, I was really into this Japanese group called Speed. I wanted to sing and dance like them.
IAX: Did you have any American music influences when you were growing up?
LiSA: After I was into Speed, I got hooked on Avril Lavigne, Green Day, Blink 182, and general punk rock.
IAX: Awesome. You have good taste.
LiSA: Thank you.
IAX: What are some of your other musical tastes? What other groups are you into?
LiSA: Other than the punk rock genre, I love R&B and country music. Like, Rihanna and TLC.
IAX: What are some things you’d like to accomplish in your music career? Do you see yourself moving into other areas, like production or management?
LiSA: I still want to continue being an artist.
IAX: Do you plan on traveling anywhere else in the States while you’re here?
LiSA: I’d like to see Santa Monica, and Downtown. Like the Green Day song. (sings) Downtown!
IAX: That concludes our interview. It was very nice to meet and talk with you.
LiSA: Thank you very much!
