Anime Expo announced yesterday that, along with Mnet, they’ll be co-producing the first ever K-Pop Cosplay Masquerade at this year’s KCON. KCON, as the press release states, is “ the first ever large scale convention dedicated to the hottest entertainment coming out of Asia.”
Scouts will be on the lookout for the best cosplay at the convention, which will be held on October 13 in Irvine, California, at the Irvine Amphitheater. Cosplayers that do the best job of mirroring pop and rock stars and groups like Girls’ Generation, PSY, and T-ara will be called out by the scouts to enter the Masquerade throughout the day. Attendees can also sign up at Anime Expo’s booth to be part of the event.
Only the best of the best, selected by a celebrity panel of judges, will make it on stage to perform in the Masquerade. The judging panel will include special guests as well as some of the top talent in cosplay from across the country.
“We are happy to be partnering with Anime Expo,” said Ted Kim, acting president & CEO of Mnet. “We look forward to co-creating one of their signature events with a K-Pop spin by giving fans a chance to not only meet their idols, but also dress and act like them.”
