AX’10: Forum Meet and Greet

The Anime Expo Forum Meet & Greet was once again, a crazy filled panel full of laughs and fun. The event is designed to help others, from the forums or not, meet each other and become friends. The event kicked off with some amazing introductions by Bernard Acero of Taylor Locke (Kisuka), John Galietta III (Stryyder), and of course the one and only Andrew J. Alandy (Master Duralath).

The first game to start the event was my Mystery Box Trivia game, this event is designed to get you to study up on some older anime as well as know some info about the Guests of Honor before coming to the Meet & Greet. To my surprise, nearly every person picked the easy question boxes, however toward the end we had a contestant pick the dreaded Risk Prize… AND WON WITH NO PROBLEMS! I was shocked that he knew the answer so easily! We had some extra time left for the Trivia Game, so we were able to grab a few more people from the audience to participate, by this time, we decided to make every question have a risk if you got the answer wrong.

Next up was the first half of the Forum Awards, these awards are voted on by the AX Forum Members before Anime Expo, the votes are then counted and the winners decided. The winners receive an award certificate, a gag-prize, and a goodie bag of treats. Here is a list of this year’s award winners:

  • Forum Bishoujo: Miko of love
  • Forum Bishounen: Skai
  • Most likely to get lost: Mana-chan
  • Most likely to be dragged out by security: BernardA
  • Most likely to bribe everyone for an Award: Jimsha
  • Most likely to change cosplays more times than a magical girl: PhD Pepper
  • Most likely to be late to the M&G: Citrakite
  • Most likely to get hurt while working on cosplay: Vensy
  • Most likely to be mistaken for a minor: Katch
  • Most helpful Forum member: kero
  • Most dedicated otaku: RiderG
  • Most Infamous: Nighthawk
  • Most Creative: gackt_2003
  • Most Random: thelogkage
  • Forum Veteran: Duralath
  • Forum Newbie: Ribbit Ribbit Pan Pan
  • Friendliest Forumer: PersianDragon
  • Person doing too much this AX: BrianR
  • Honorary Trap: NeoCrisis
  • Fujiko Community Leader: DDR_Queen^_^

The next game was our spin on Jan-Ken-Po (Rock, Paper, Scissors), for some reason we always end up with an odd number of finalists, so we had BrianR step in and fill the gap after he owned a table. BrianR ended up winning but we gave the prize to the second place winner anyways. After Jan-Ken-Po, we had our Cosplay Walk-Off event, where those in the audience in cosplay were able to have a little contest and show off their cosplay creations. The winner? A Domo-Kun cosplayer.

We finished the second half of our awards after the cosplay walk-off, and then gave away lots of goodies to the crowd. This Forum Meet & Greet was probably one of the funniest and most “fail-filled” ones yet! There was so many unexpected things that happened that made it hilarious, that this M&G is sure to stay in the memories of those there all the way until next year. I would like to thank everyone for coming and having fun, and we hope to see you on the AX Forums more and at the M&G once again next year.
