The official website for the latest Dragon Ball Z movie, Battle of Gods, has been updated with more information on the 2013 film’s plot. Check it out below, thanks to a translation found at Saiyan Island:

The story takes place a few years after the fierce battle with Majin Buu. Bils, the God of Destruction who maintains the balance of the universe, awakens from a long slumber. Hearing rumors that a Saiyan defeated Frieza, Bils goes on a search to track down the warrior who championed this feat – Goku. King Kai advises Goku to avoid a confrontation, however, Goku is ecstatic that a new opponent has appeared after many years and decides to fight. Unfortunately, Goku is no match for Bils’ overwhelming power and is defeated. Bils leaves, asking if “there is anybody on Earth more worthy to destroy?” Will Goku and the Z Warriors really be able to stop the God of Destruction?!

That King Kai — always trying to tell people not to avoid confrontations. As mentioned in the above synopsis, the story takes place a few years after Goku has defeated Buu, placing Battle of Gods during the 10 year time leap between chapters 517 and 518 of the Dragon Ball Z manga, or between episodes 288 and 289 of the anime.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods will be the 14th Dragon Ball Z film, and the 18th Dragon Ball movie overall (excluding the American live-action adaptation). The film is scheduled to be released in Japan on March 30, 2013, with no release date scheduled for North America as of yet (but maybe it’ll be near Anime Expo 2013, since there’s that Dragon Ball Z voice panel that’s going to happen). The (very vague) teaser trailer for the film can be found below.
