A new, action-packed trailer for Production I.G.‘s 009 Re: Cyborg has just gone live and its full of EXPLOSIONS.

And really freakin’ awesome action. The international trailer mostly focused on re-introducing the classic cyborg heroes to modern audiences, but this time it looks like they’ve decided to pull out all the stops and showcase what people really want to see – EXPLOSIONS!

Okay, so it doesn’t have that many explosions (compared to a Michael Bay film, anyways), but it does have a bunch of buildings toppling like dominoes, jet boots, mid-air fight scenes, beautiful animation, and a better look at the plot of the film.

Based on the seminal anime Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori, 009 Re:Cyborg reintroduces the erstwhile heroes to a new generation. Based in the not-too-distant future (2013), the film brings the cyborgs out of retirement to defend the world from terrorists that have (as shown in the trailer with the EXPLOSIONS) indiscriminately (and simultaneously) bombed buildings in major cities all over the world.

The film will be opening in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and a few other Asian countries on Oct. 27, with a North American release happening…eventually.
